Eric's Great Okinawan Adventure!
My friend Eric is out here for a visit so we decided to have an Okinawan Adventure! Rachel and I took him to Hanahou, a Hawaiian restarurant, for some delicious Taco Rice, Mochiko Chicken, and Ahi Poke Don. Yumm.
Next on our list was visiting the beautiful Cape Zanpa, which now allows you up in the lighthouse!!! I was so excited because I've always wanted to go up there! As we approached the entrance, I remarked that I had forgotten the change I had just gotten back from lunch in the car (I still had money in my wallet but I hate breaking bills when I don't need to) and a woman with her kids paid for Rachel, Eric and me! What a surprise blessing! The view from the top of the lighthouse was stunning! Even if you've been to Cape Zanpa a million times, I highly recommend going back and visiting the lighthouse for a completely different take on the peninsula.
After visiting Cape Zanpa we headed up to Zakimi Castle, one of my favorite castles on the island. The castle walls and grounds are extremely well maintained and the view from the top is unbeatable. You can see the whole island on a clear day!
After Zakimi-Jo we tried to go to the Yomitan Pottery Village but it was incredibly congested so we just turned around. We went and saw the new Night at the Museum movie instead which was pretty good. Nimchan then needed our attention so we went to Rachel's house to walk her before heading out to dinner.
My initial plan was to take them to Som Chai, which is my favorite Thai restaurant on the island but it turns out they're closed on Sundays and Mondays. Sad Face. So we decided to go to Charlie's Tacos instead and it turned out that there was a miniature concert festival going on in the street! So we got to see a couple local bands perform before and after dinner. Pretty sweet stumble upon find for us!
It was a great end to a fun day!
